Nobody From Midmart Will Ever Ask You for Advance Payment
If a message asks you to send money to unlock an order, claim a prize or verify your account in Midmart's name, it is not us. Here is how to tell.
Let us start with the rule, because it has no exceptions: Midmart never asks anyone for money. Not for delivery, not for registration, not to release an order, not to verify an account, not to claim a prize. We collect no payments at all — that is the whole design of the platform. Anyone contacting you for money in our name is lying about who they are.
The scripts that go around
The wording changes; the shape does not. These are the ones we see reported most often.
- "Pay the delivery charge in advance to release your parcel." Delivery charges are set by the shop and shown at checkout. Nothing is ever released by a separate payment to a personal number.
- "Your shop registration needs a fee." Opening a shop on Midmart is free, and so is listing on it. There is no fee to pay, ever.
- "You have won a voucher — send a processing charge." Any real promotion costs you nothing to receive.
- "Send an OTP so we can verify your account." No employee will ever ask for a one-time code. The code exists to keep them out of your account too.
- "Order outside the platform for a better price." Off-platform, there is no order record, no review, no report queue and no consequence for the seller. That is exactly why it is offered.
How to check in ten seconds
- Money for us is always the tell. Midmart holds no funds and charges no commission, so there is nothing we could legitimately invoice you for.
- Check where the message came from. Our messages reach you in the order thread on the site or from our published channels — not from an unknown WhatsApp number.
- Look at the number they want money sent to. A personal bKash number belongs to a person, not a company.
- Watch for urgency. "Within one hour or your order is cancelled" exists to stop you from checking. Checking is exactly what you should do.
- Open the site yourself. Do not follow a link from the message. Your real orders are in your account, always.
What about paying a seller in advance?
That is a different question, and it is legitimate — many good shops accept bKash before dispatch. It is a decision between you and the seller, so weigh it: is the shop verified, how many delivered orders does it have, what does its return policy say? For a first order with an unfamiliar shop, cash on delivery is simply the stronger choice.
If it has already happened
Report the shop or listing from its page — every report goes into a queue that a human works through, and a shop can be suspended over it. Keep your screenshots and the transaction record. If money has left your account, contact your mobile financial service provider and the police cyber unit; those two are the ones with the power to act on a transfer. We can act on the account, and we will.
One sentence to remember: money never flows to Midmart, so anyone asking for it in our name is not us.
