How Payment Works on Midmart (and Why We Never Touch Your Money)
Midmart holds no wallet, no escrow and no balance. You pay the shop directly — here is exactly how that works and what it means for you.
Most marketplaces sit between you and the shop and hold the money until the parcel arrives. Midmart does not. There is no Midmart wallet, no escrow account and no balance with your name on it. When you buy something here, you pay the shop — directly, on the shop's own terms.
That is an unusual design in 2026, and it deserves a plain explanation rather than a line of fine print.
What happens when you place an order
Placing an order on Midmart costs you nothing online. You choose the products, you check out one shop at a time, and the order lands in that shop's seller panel with your name, phone number and delivery address attached. Nothing is charged at that moment, because there is nothing here to charge with.
The shop then confirms the order, packs it and sends it out with whatever courier it already uses. Payment happens at the end of that chain, between you and the seller.
Your payment options are the shop's payment options
Each shop configures how it wants to be paid, and only those choices appear on its checkout page. In practice that usually means one or more of:
- Cash on delivery — you pay the delivery person at your door. This is the default across Bangladesh and the fallback for any shop that has configured nothing else.
- The shop's own bKash or Nagad number — a personal or merchant number that belongs to the seller, not to Midmart.
- A bank account the seller has published.
- Decide with the seller — the honest option, for arrangements that do not fit a box.
Every one of those sends money to the shop. None of them send money to us. The checkout says so at the point where you choose, because that is the moment it matters.
What this means in practice
The trade is straightforward, and worth understanding before you order.
What you gain: nothing is deducted from the seller, so prices are not padded to cover a platform cut. Nothing is locked up while a parcel travels. And with cash on delivery, you can look at the item before any money changes hands.
What you give up: Midmart cannot reverse a payment it never received. If a seller takes an advance and disappoints you, we can suspend the shop and record what happened — we cannot refund you, because we have nothing to refund you with.
How to shop safely under this model
- Prefer cash on delivery for a shop you have not bought from before. It is the single strongest protection available to you here.
- Read the shop's delivery and return policy on its profile before ordering. Because Midmart arranges neither, those two fields are the whole agreement between you and the seller.
- Check the track record — rating, review count and how long the shop has traded. All of it is public and none of it can be bought.
- Keep the conversation in the order thread. Anything agreed there is recorded against the order.
- Never send an advance to anyone claiming to be Midmart. We never ask for payment, in any form, for any reason.
The short version
Midmart runs the catalogue, verifies who is allowed to trade on it, keeps a permanent record of every order, and removes sellers who break their promises. The money goes from you to the shop, and it never passes through us. Knowing that is what lets you shop here with your eyes open.
