Write a Listing That Clears Moderation the First Time

Every new listing is reviewed before it goes live. Here is what the queue looks for, what sends a listing back, and how to get through in one pass.

Write a Listing That Clears Moderation the First Time

Every product you create on Midmart enters a moderation queue and stays hidden until a person has reviewed it. You cannot publish your own unreviewed listing — that is deliberate, and it is a large part of why buyers here can trust what they read. The good news is that the review is quick and predictable once you know what it looks at.

What a moderator is checking

  • Does the listing describe one real, specific product? Not a category, not a bundle of unrelated things, not a placeholder.
  • Do the photographs match the product? Manufacturer images are acceptable; images of a different model or a different variant are not.
  • Is it in the right category? A listing filed in a busier category to catch traffic is sent back.
  • Are the claims supportable? "Original", "official warranty", "100% genuine" are claims you will have to honour at the buyer's door.
  • Is it something that may be sold here at all? Tobacco, adult items, anything requiring the platform to hold money — gift cards, top-ups, donations — and counterfeits are all out.
  • Is the price sane and the stock real? A price that is obviously a placeholder, or a listing with no stock behind it, wastes the buyer's time and yours.

The five reasons listings are most often sent back

  1. Copied text with another shop's name or phone number in it. Rewrite in your own words; the contact details in a listing must be yours, and orders belong in the platform.
  2. A title stuffed with keywords. "Best original imported new premium quality" tells a buyer nothing and reads as noise. Brand, model, key specification, done.
  3. One dark photograph on a bedsheet. Three clear photos on a plain background beat one artistic shot every time.
  4. A description with no specifications. Capacity, size, material, colour, what is in the box, warranty terms. Every gap becomes a message you have to answer later.
  5. Warranty language that is not yours to give. If you offer a seven-day replacement, say exactly that. Do not imply a brand warranty you cannot process.

A listing checklist worth keeping

Title: brand, model, the one specification that matters. Photos: at least three, on a plain background, including the packaging. Description: what it is, what is in the box, key specifications, your warranty in your own words, and any honest caveat. Category: the most specific accurate one. Price: your real price. Stock: your real stock.

Why the queue is worth your patience

Midmart holds no money and books no couriers, so it has exactly two levers for keeping the marketplace honest: who may trade, and what may be listed. The queue is the second lever. Every listing it sends back is one less reason for a buyer to distrust the shop next to yours — which, on a marketplace, is one less reason to distrust yours.
